Testimonials:"Friendly and professional – Powers Physio-Fit Physical Therapy is the perfect place to go for your physical therapy!! Before discovering Powers Physio-Fit, I always felt ‘lost’ at those large physical therapy businesses. There was always a ‘revolving door’ of therapists, and the crowded atmosphere was less than ideal for any individual treatment. Powers Physio-Fit is really a ‘boutique shop’ – Dr. Powers is always ‘in.’ She focuses on one, maybe two patients at a time, and she always knows exactly your specific treatment protocol. Her expertise and experience are clearly evident! I’ve made tremendous progress in recovering from two recent total knee replacement surgeries. A little over a year ago, Dr. Powers helped me recover from spinal surgery that was needed following an automobile crash. I’ve been extremely fortunate have received the care and services from Powers Physio-Fit. To me, Powers is #1. —Herb Mones I cannot say enough good things about my many experiences at Powers Physio-Fit Physical Therapy. James "I was admitted to Columbia Presbyterian on May 1st 2006 and after several weeks I received the gift of a Heart Transplant. The complications after surgery were severe. I was in a coma for six+ weeks and awakened to find I lost all motor control. My muscles atrophied and I had to relearn all of my basic life motions such as: swallowing, eating, drinking from a cup, holding a hair brush, brushing my teeth and writing. All of this took months but I was discharged from the hospital on Dec 21st, after 235 days. After discharge I met Regina at my home. I was in a wheelchair. I had regained some strength but I was barely able to move. My body was dead weight. I needed help for every function of normal living. I was unable to do anything on my own. I still had to learn to transfer from my wheelchair, get dressed, stand on my own, walk, and use bathroom facilities. With Regina’s instruction, I am now living a normal life. I walk daily with a friend. I have regained my strength. Regina‘s knowledge of the physiology of the human body is remarkable and thorough. She worked every muscle in my body. But that is only part of her treatment. She cares about your emotional well-being as well. My recovery was a long hard process and Regina encouraged me every step of the way (And don’t let that beautiful smile fool you, she is a task master and now my friend.) --Valerie B "After an Injury requiring surgery many years ago I had some PT, and found it was essentially the same unchanging exercises over and over based on the specifics of the injury. After a similar but much more serious set of circumstances in recent years (a car accident which aggravated a chronic illness previously diagnosed), I chose an independent physical therapist, Regina Powers, and the differences (benefits) have been huge, including: • The initial assessment of my capabilities, needs and goals was made not by merely reading the doctor’s script but included my input and her evaluation based on years of experience. • In addition to things like BP and pain levels checked each time, attention is paid to present issues, e.g. when shoulder pain appeared so did several modes of treatment that resolved it. • As in the past, I still do some directed exercises, but use of things like color-coded weights allows me to feel like I am making some progress and some things are very “hands-on”, which means Regina works at it too! (e.g. manual stretching by her of certain muscles etc.). • Having an independent therapist can also mean more flexibility with scheduling than with an “institution” like a hospital (like when weather, car problems, not feeling well or other appointment changes require rescheduling). • When someone notices my improvement and asks for a recommendation, I can be sure that they will have the same therapist that has helped me so much if they call the number I give — and that should I need more help along the way I will get the same person for therapy. —Irene M "My experience with Regina Powers as my physical therapist was by far the best I have ever had. I have gone through many physical therapy programs over the years and never did I learn how to monitor my injury and keep it from interfering with my everyday life. Regina provided me with exercises and a treatment regiment which allowed me to still participate in college athletics. She was in tune with my needs and went to extremes in order to help me to reach my goals as an athlete. Before ending my sessions with Regina, she taught me how to prevent injuries and gave me skills that allowed me to treat myself in case of injury. I am now several months out of therapy and I still use the exercises that Regina provided me with to stay healthy, something that I never got out of any other physical therapy program. On a more personal note. Regina was not only my physical therapist but became my friend as well. I truly enjoyed going to physical therapy and working with her. Regina made sessions fun while still working you to your potential. I would recommend Regina Powers as a physical therapist to everyone. —Teresa S. "Dear Regina, I would like to thank you for your help with my recovery of total knee replacement surgery. The three months that you worked with me, I found you to be very professional and totally knowledgeable in your field of physical therapy. You devised a program that started in my home and progressed to your office that was very helpful and thoroughly addressed my needs. When I schedule total knee replacement for my other knee in the near future, I will definitely call on you to assist me with my recovery again. Thank you and best of luck. —Seta "Thank you so much for your work with our son. Since beginning with therapy at 5 years old, our son worked with Regina Powers Powers Physio-Fit weekly for almost 2 years. She really helped him to Improve in so many areas. His muscle tone, coordination, balance and other skills improved so much. She also helped him to feel better about himself as he overcame his areas of weakness. Regina’s positive attitude and professionalism made our weekly visits seem more like fun for our son than work. Our whole family appreciates what Regina did to help improve his life. —LJC "In one year, I had two total knee replacements. The first (left) was performed in April and the second (right) in October. Both procedures were performed at The Hospital for Special Surgery, NYC. After a short stay in the hospital I was sent home, not to re-hab. Fortunately, the physical therapist that the Hospital recommended was Regina Powers. Regina provided four weeks of in -house therapy and six weeks of treatments at her facility. As a result of her professionalism, knowledge, skill and persistence, I have not only fully recovered from both surgeries but have complete motion in both knees as if they were original. Regina is a very experienced and knowledgeable therapist and I am very thankful for her hard work during my re-hab. Outside of successful surgery, the main reason for my complete recovery and full motion in both knees is due to her dedication. I highly recommend her services and in the future if I require a Physical Therapist, it will be Regina." —Ken K. |
